Maintaining In Times Of Discouragement

Maintaining in Times of Discouragement

By Paul Adams

To maintain is to refuse to give up even in the face of discouragement. It is the conviction that you will not abandon your faith. Jesus warned in the parable of the sower that some who hear, believe, and obey would not remain faithful and would fall away. Out of the 4 types of hearts only the one that is honest and good remains faithful. (Luke 8:12-14). We must make sure our heart is good and honest. When times are tough, maintain!

Maintain Good Works

"This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men" (Titus 3:8). We must guard against becoming complacent. Paul is clear in this passage that individuals must maintain in doing good. It is sad to see someone who has served the Lord faithfully for many years, and then they fall away. We must all be careful to maintain good works!

Maintain Your Ways

"Though he slay me, yet I trust in him: I will maintain my ways before him" (Job 13:15). Job experienced much discouragement. He had the death of his children, loss of riches, an unsupportive wife, painful boils all over his body, & comforters who became accusers. Satan was trying to cause Job to abandon his faith. Job refused to allow these difficult times to cause him to give up. He was determined to maintain faithfulness to the Lord. We too will face people who will discourage us. We also may face circumstances that are troubling. Never give up your integrity! Never allow satan to steal the word out of your heart. Never Give up. Hold on to your faith. "Increase our faith." (Luke 17:5).
