At The Cross

Paul Adams

I can read vivid accounts of our Lord’s suffering on the cross in Matthew 27, Mark 15, Luke 23, and John 19. When I consider the suffering on my behalf, it causes me to see some applications in my daily life.

I see how much God really loves me. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

I see my daily service is reasonable. “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.” (Romans 12:1)

I see the importance of obedience. “… though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered.” (Hebrews 5:8)

I see the ugliness of sin. “Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors.” (Isaiah 53:12)

I see the need to obey the gospel. “Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?” (Romans 6:3)

I see the need to lead others to the cross. “Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God.” (2 Corinthians 5:20)

I see the need to be restored. “My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.” (1 John 2:1)

Meditate on the cross and it is amazing what you can see!
